Q. How do I cite and reference content from the Nursing Reference Center in APA style?

How do I cite and reference content from the Nursing Reference Center database in APA style?

Nursing Reference Center Plus contains a variety of resources including “Quick Lessons,” “Evidence Based Care Sheets,” “Patient Handouts,” and more that are only available in this database.  Creating a reference for resources found here follow this format:

Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year, Month Day). Title of article: Article

subtitle. Nursing Reference Center Plus. https://www.permalinkURL

Start by going in to Nursing Reference Center Plus. It can also be accessed via the database list, which is available on the library homepage or on the Resources tab in your classroom (under "e-Resources").

You can find the information needed to create your reference at the top of the Nursing Reference Center article record (image below) or you can click the Cite button (piece of paper icon on the right hand side of the screen) to find the start of your APA reference. It is important to examine each part of the pre-generated reference to make sure it is formatted correctly.  In the example below we can see the capitalization of the title is incorrect and it is missing the URL.  Click on the permalink icon (chair link) to the right of the article to generate the permalink; include in the source segment of the reference.

The reference for this article would be:

The parenthetical reference would be: (Schaub & Orna, 2018).
