You can start your search in a database like CINAHL or MEDLINE. These collections are available in the Rasmussen College Online Library (click Articles by Subject in the "Find" column, and then Health Sciences).
Once you have signed in, and BEFORE you search for anything, scroll down the page and select "Case Study" from the menu provided unter "Publication Type." (See screenshot below for visual.) Make sure you are also searching for Full Text articles.
Once you have your publication type and full text search complete, then go up to the search box and enter in a basic search term. We recommend error or mistake.
You will then see the results of your search. Don't worry, there's still a little more that you can do to narrow the focus of your search.
On the left-hand side navigation panel, scroll down until you see the category "Subject: Major Heading." Opening this option and selecting limiters will allow you to focus your search into the realm of healthcare errors.
(The example below is showing a search in CINAHL limited to case studies with full-text available, the search term being: error.)
It is now up to you to select a case study, and use your critical thinking skills to figure out which National Patient Safety Goal wasn't followed and the results of that error.
