How do I change the default settings in Microsoft Word?

How can I change the settings in Word so that new documents have the correct font style, font size, margins, etc for APA formatting?

This video will show you how to update some of the default settings in Microsoft Word so that all new documents have:

  • Times New Roman font style
  • Size 12 font
  • 1" margins
  • Double spacing
  • Correct line spacing

Note that APA 7th edition allows papers to be written in one of six approved fonts:

  • Calibri, 11 point
  • Arial, 11 point
  • Lucida Sans Unicode, 10 point
  • Times New Roman, 12 point
  • Georgia, 11 point
  • Computer Modern, 10 point
