What does xxx or xxxx mean in medical dictation?

Use one of our medical dictionaries listed on the Dictionaries & Encyclopedias tab in the School of Heath Sciences Guide. In particular, Mosby's Medical Dictionary should be helpful for this question.
Click into the book, and then click Search Within on the left side--this will allow you to search for specific terms within the book.
Do separate searches for your terms; for example you could start by searching xxx.
Then do another search for xxxx to locate possible definitions for each.
