Kopernio - how do I set it up?

Tell me more about Kopernio, how I add it to my browser, and how to use it.

Answer

What is Kopernio?
Kopernio is a free browser plugin that finds the best available PDF of an academic article while you browse. Behind the scenes, Kopernio will search open databases and (where possible) your university's subscriptions (right now, limited to Web of Science) to find the best version of the paper for you and will store PDFs in your account so you can find and read them again later. For more information, see Kopernio's FAQ page here.

How do I register for a Kopernio account?

  1.  Go to https://kopernio.com/signin and download the browser plugin or click "Create Account"
Kopernio sign in page - Install the Kopernio plugin to access PDFs.

  2. Create your Kopernio account. Enter in your First and Last names, your Rasmussen email address, and a password that you will remember. Then click the "Create my Kopernio account" button.

  3. Find your institution by searching for Rasmussen in the search box provided, then click "Select this Institution"

  4. Your account will be created, and you can verify your access by clicking the "Get me an example PDF" button.

  5. When you access an article online (via Google Scholar or through a publisher's website), you will see a green "View PDF" or "Check for PDF" button in the lower left of your screen. Use that button and enter in your Rasmussen login credentials (the ones you use for the Student Portal and other library databases) in order to see if Rasmussen has a free PDF of the article you're viewing in our Web Of Science database.
