Q. Where can I get information about putting a resume together?

Your Career Services Advisor is determined by your program of study, regardless of whether you take your courses online or on a campus. A variety of resources are available within the Student Portal, on the Career Services page under the Resources Tab. Additionally, your Career Services Advisor will be able to help you.

Rasmussen College employs a group of career advisors designated to specific programs that help students and graduates navigate our online tools and resources. Support includes but is not limited to:

  • guidance on resume and cover letter preparation,
  • job search strategies,
  • portfolio development and navigating the online application process,
  • mock interviews,
  • job offer negotiation, and
  • interview follow up

We also offer informative webinars, career fairs, and a job search portal (Job Connect) that connects students and alumni with employers hiring in their field. For answers to basic questions, Career Services Advisors are available in a click-to-chat feature, and appointments with a programmatic career advisor are available to address more complex questions. A directory detailing the Career Services Advisor for each program of study can be found within the Student Portal under the Resources tab, on the Career Services page under "Contact Us," or, you can utilize the click-to-chat feature on the Career Services page to connect with a Career Services Advisor during business hours.

Reach out to your Career Services Advisor to schedule an appointment for a one-on-one review session. Also see the files linked at the bottom of this page, which are offered by Career Services to cover the basics on resume writing.

Additionally, a wealth of resources and sample templates are available at OptimalResume (https://rasmussen.optimalresume.com/).  Click on "New Users Click Here" to get started and create an account using your Rasmussen student email address.
