It can be challenging to accurately identify the resource type when viewing online. Use the tips provided below to correctly identify the resource you are citing.
It is likely a Book or eBook if:
- You located the item in one of the ebook databases
- You saw this icon in your Discovery search results:
- The resource is divided into chapters
- There is a title page that includes a publisher, copyright date, and ISBN number
It is likely an Article if:
- it appears in a journal, magazine, or newspaper
- Includes a periodical title, volume number, issue number, and publication date
- you saw one of these icons in you library database search results lists:

It is likely a Web Article if:
- you found it on the internet
- you cannot find a journal title, volume number, issue number, DOI number
- it looks like it is only available on the website
- the URL in the address bar will bring you back to the article
