What is the Recycle Bin on my computer? Can I restore something I deleted?

Answer

Windows comes with a location to keep your trash until permanently deleted. This is known as the RECYCLE BIN. Anytime data is deleted, it is moved from its current location to the RECYCLE BIN.

Deleting a file will not permanently remove it from your computer. The recycle bin will continue to hold data until you empty the recycle bin.  Data contained in the recycle bin will continue to use up storage on your hard disk. To empty the recycle bin, right click the icon on your desktop and choose EMPTY RECYCLE BIN.

You may also open up the recycle bin to view the contents before deleting. If a file is contained within that you would like to pull back out of the recycle bin, right click the file and choose RESTORE. This will return the item to the folder from where it was deleted.
