How do I Save a Document as a Template in Microsoft Word?

Answer

Did you know you can save a document in Word as a template to use later?  Just follow our example below with the APA Template

Step One: Open the MS Word document you’d like to turn into a template.

Step Two: Once the file is open, select 'File' and then 'Save As'.

Step Three: Change the name of the template to something you will remember. Next, under 'Format', select 'Word Template'.

Click

Step Four: Double check to make certain your template was saved. Select 'File', then select 'New from Template'.

On the left, select 'My Templates' (if not already selected), to see the template you recently saved.  That's it!
