What is the difference between Respondus and Proctorio?

Respondus uses a webcam and lockdown browser to record the entire testing experience. Faculty review the recordings to ensure testing integrity. Respondus is used for course based examinations. Proctorio is used when taking online ATI content mastery assessments and ATI comprehensive predictor assessments.

Where do I find the link to download Respondus?

If you have a quiz or exam that requires the use of Respondus, a download link will be provided in the Details & Information area before you start the quiz/exam.

Is ID verification required for Respondus testing?

Yes, you will be required to show a photo ID prior to starting your examination. Please make certain to hold your ID steady and allow sufficient time to view/record the ID.

How do I do the 360 Environmental Scan?

Using an external camera or built-in laptop camera, complete the environmental scan. The scan must include:

• A slow 360 degree scan of your environment
• The area your computer will be resting on during testing
• The area around your feet
• For laptops with a built-in webcam or desktop computers with large monitors such as Macs, use a hand-held mirror to assist with the scan or desktop computers with large monitors such as Macs, use a handheld mirror to assist with the scan. (The other option is to purchase an external webcam).
• You should not leave the testing area after completion of the environmental scan.

What happens if my friends or family walk into my viewing area?

It is important to be in a private location during your examination. Any extra people appearing in your examination recording will trigger your examination for further review and possible academic integrity violation.

Can I play music or read the exam questions aloud or out loud?

No, any talking or background noise will be flagged for review.  Please plan for a quiet testing environment.

What happens if I accidentally click outside my browser?

Your exam proctor will be notified and will make the determination if you are allowed to continue the examination. Multiple incidences of clicking outside the browser may result in the discontinuation of the testing opportunity. In addition, this may result in further review and possible activation of the Academic Integrity Policy.

What happens if my camera does not work properly?

It is critical to have working technology as outlined in the College Catalog. Examinations taken without the monitor on may result in the test being voided.
