How can I find a state theft statute in Lexis?

Answer

Lexis can be "pre-filtered" to limit a search to a particular jurisdiction and a specific resource type before conducting a keyword search.

First, click "All Jurisdictions" to the right of the search textbox.  A menu of jurisdictions will appear.  Check the jurisdiction(s) that you would like to include in your search.

Next, click on "All Categories" and select "Statutes and Legislation."  Notice how the filters for the jurisdiction and category have changed.

Type your search term in the textbox at the top of the page and click Search (magnifying glass icon to the right of the search textbox).

Note: Different states may use alternative terms for the concept of theft.

Click on the link to view the statute in full text.
