Q. Writing Help: How do I access writing support?

We have many different resources available for writing support here at Rasmussen University.  Check out the video below for more information about these resources and how to use them.

  • The Writing Guide provides assistance with all of the various writing assignments that you may encounter while in college.  In the Writing Guide, you will find step-by-step instructions that will help with the writing process along with beneficial resources.
  • Grammarly is a software you can use to check your papers for spelling, grammar, punctuation, writing mechanics, and even plagiarism.
  • The Writing Lab is available through your online courses.  You can submit papers to the writing for feedback from a professional tutor.  Feedback is provided within 24 hours of submission. Students are provided with 420 minutes every month of combined Live Help tutoring and Writing Lab submissions. Each Writing Lab submission equates to 30 minutes. Minutes reset on the first of every month. The amount of minutes available will populate in the Live Help box (under "Connect") in the Tutoring Platform. If a student utilizes all 420 minutes before the end of the month, they may request additional time be added to their account by contacting the Personal Support Center
  • The APA Guide can be used to help further your understanding of APA formatting - the required formatting of Rasmussen University.
  • APA Tutors specialize in helping students with APA.  Select "Writing" in the Topic dropdown menu, then "APA" as the Subject.  Be sure to read more about APA tutoring  appointments here: Is there tutoring available for APA?
  • Tutors are also available for English Composition.  Select "General Education" in the Topic dropdown menu and "English Composition" as the Subject.  Reading & Writing Strategies tutors can be found by selecting "Writing" from the Topic dropdown menu and "Reading and Writing Strategies" as the Subject.
  • Bluebook Help for Paralegal Students: refer to the Bluebook FAQ or the Bluebook Citation tab in the School of Justice Studies Guide.
