How do I access company information in Business via ProQuest and/or Hoover's?
Answer
The Business via ProQuest database contains company information in the form of newspaper articles, reports, and magazine articles, as well as detailed company information and records from within the Hoover's Company Profiles collection. See below for full instructions for both options (searching for articles, and using Hoover's).
- Note: If you are only interested in Hoover's, you can go directly to the Hoover's database from within your courses by clicking the Resources link, then selecting Search E-Resources, and finally scrolling down the alphabetical list until you get to the H's and see Hoover's. Click it to open - you may need to login using your standard Rasmussen username and password.
Using Business via ProQuest to Search for Articles:
1. Type your search terms (typically the company's name) into the search bar and press Search.
2. Your results will appear. If there are too many results, you can narrow your results using the options in the left column (choose source type, specify dates, etc.).
3. In addition, if you're looking only for very current articles about your company, simply click the downwards arrow next to Relevance and select Most recent first. Click Sort.
Using Hoover's Company Profiles:
Hoover's Description: Hoover's contains proprietary information about more than 40,000 public and non-public companies and 225,000 key executives. Hoover's, widely recognized as a leader in company data, delivers in depth industry analyses, information on a company's location, summary financials, top competitors, top officers and more.
Accessing Company Information in Hoover's:
1. Go to Hoover's
2. Type in your company's name and press Search to begin searching.
3. Results will appear. Review carefully, and click the Full Text or Link to full text button for the most applicable record.
4. The company's record will appear. Scroll to access information such as: History, People, Subsidiaries, and Financials.
