Research Starters is a feature in our Discovery All In One database that provides links to authoritative summary articles on thousands of popular topics. It is a great place to perform background research or to get ideas for any research project.

Research Starters content is obtained from a variety of high quality sources, including Salem Press, Encyclopædia Britannica, and others.  It can be accessed in two ways.

Method One

When you place a general topic in the search box in Discovery, a Research Starter (outlined in red) may appear at the top of the Result List.  For those topics identified as most popular, Research Starters will retrieve relevant articles that link the user to related information.

Method Two

You can search the entire collection of Research Starters at once in the Research Starters database.  Link to the database, type your search term in the search box at the top of the page and press search.
