I keep getting the message: A System Problem has Occurred when I try to access any/all of the EBSCO databases. HELP!

Answer

If you get the message/graphic below when you try to access an EBSCO database, please give us the information requested at the bottom of this screen.

Notification of error in EBSCO databases.

Gather the following information:

  • NAME of the EBSCO database you tried to get into (e.g. Academic Search Complete, Discovery)
  • Name and version of your computer's:
  • Name of any anti-virus or firewall software you are using
  • The source code of the page you receive (copy and paste it into the email)
    • In Firefox, you should right-click on the page and click View Page Source.
    • In IE, the option is simply click on the View "tab" and then on "Source"

Then please go to http://search.ebscohost.com/testauth.aspx and  take  a screenshot of the page that shows up. This should be done without clearing your cookies or cache.

Send all of the above information to the librarian you were working with, or if you weren't working with anyone in specific, send it to: librarians@rasmussen.edu

Finally, know that sometimes completely clearing your cache and cookies will resolve the problem temporarily.
