Consider the following strategies for improved reading comprehension:

SQ3R is an active reading exercise which is designed to help you get a fuller understanding of your reading materials.  It combines all three parts (above), and you will need to keep a pen & paper on hand to use this method. The "S" stands for "survey," the "R" stands for "read" (recite & review) and the "Q" represents "question."  Once you have a better idea of what pre-reading, active reading, and post reading entails, you should use and practice SQ3R!
