Are there audio versions of textbooks available?

Answer

Audio versions of eTextbooks are sometimes available. Below are the primary options for accessing audio versions of your eTextbooks.

For VitalSource eTextbooks:

Not a VitalSourcee textbook? To find out if an audio version of your eTextbook is available from the publisher, do a Google search for your textbook's title and the publisher's name. Typically, you can find a listing of supplements and/or related products or materials on the homepage for the textbook itself. If an audio version is available, you could contact the publisher regarding costs.

Finally, if no audio is available, there are additional options for those with medically documented disabilities. Contact the accommodations officer at your campus. With the proper formal and approved documentation, it is sometimes possible for that accommodations officer to get a text file of the textbook from the publishing company. The text file can then be read aloud by a text reader that the student already has (there are free text readers online).
