We have a few databases that can be of help in gathering biographical information about authors and their works.

  • Literary Reference Center includes information on authors (biographies and interviews) and their works (plot summaries, literary criticism, book reviews, and the actual texts of some poems, short stories and classic works).
    • Watch the short video in the above link for information on how to navigate the Literary Reference Center database.
  • Encyclopedia Britannica can also provide information on authors and their works in "Biography Browse-see information below.

Biography Browse in Encyclopedia Britannica

The Biography Browse feature allows you to browse content by Topic, National/Cultural Association, Era, Gender, and Name.

To access this feature, click the “Browse” link at the top of the Britannica page. On the next page, in the left column, click the “Biography Browse” button. At the top of this page, there are two browsing options, By Subject and By Name.
