How are muscle cells different from other cells? Where can I find more information about this?

I need to know how muscle cells are different from other cells in the body. Where can I look for information about that?

Answer

Since you are looking for reference information (a basic overview of the topic), the Dictionaries & Encyclopedias tab of the Health Sciences guide will be useful.  It contains links to numerous databases that will be helpful for your topic, including:

When you type in search terms, remember to use nouns or keywords only for your search terms: "muscle cells," myocyte, "muscle fiber," etc.

You may also want to search: "nerve cells"  and "blood cells" along with just cells to aid in comparison.

Search tip:  Putting quotation marks around a multi-word phrase will keep those words together and will make the database search for those words as a single unit or phrase rather than as two separate words.
