Where can I find immigration stories from the 1900's turn of the century?

I am taking US history 1900 to present and for our 11 week project we are to chose someone online or someone we know who may have immigrated from another country at the turn of the century from the 1900's. I do not know of anyone in my family that has immigrated so I chose to do the research online but I am hitting a wall. I do not know if I am asking the right words. All that comes up is recent immigration stories from Mexico or somewhere else but that is present day not 1900's turn of the century. Please help!

Answer

Try using the library database America: History and Life via EBSCO.

Upon entering the database, type in keywords like:

immigrants

United States immigrants

After typing in your keywords, go to the Historical Period area and type 1890 into the first Year area, and 1909 in the to Year area (see screenshot below).

Or, trying using search terms like:

United States immigrants (1900 or turn of century)

stories of immigrants

personal histories and/or stories

songs of immigrants

personal narratives

immigrant autobiographies (you may need to narrow this by time frame, immigrant group, location, state, etc.)
