How do I find scholarly/peer-reviewed nursing articles?

Answer

  1. Identify the main keywords of your topic
    1. For example: heart attack and emergency nursing
  2. Enter 2-3 of these keywords into the database search box.  Do not copy and paste your entire PICO or research question into the search box.
  3. Check the "Scholarly/Peer-Reviewed Journals" box
    1. This can be done before or after running your first search.  The box should be right beneath the search box or over on the left hand side of the page.

      Limit to Full Text

  4. Set the publication date range to limit the results to those published within the last 2-5 years (depending on what your assignment requires)
  5. If you have too few results, try taking out one or two of your search terms.  If you have too many results, try adding an additional search term.
