Where can I find Federal and state statutes?

Answer

Rasmussen students have access to FastCase, a searchable database that contains statutes, cases, court rules, regulations and other legal materials.  It can be accessed through the Resources link> Search eResources link in any online class.

To search statutes, click on "Search Statutes" on the left side of the page.

Quick caselaw search screen

There are three search options; keywords with Boolean Connectors, natural language, or legal citation.  Select the search option then enter keywords, phrases, or citations into the search textbox at the top of the page.  Select statutes to be included in the search by checking boxes in the list displayed at the bottom of the page and click search.

Enter search here box

Search results will be listed in relevance order.  Click on the Title to view the statute in full text.  There is also an option to add terms to search within the initial search results.
